There is no time to blog!

I wrote this blog in 7 minutes as Hank the Tank finished snoozing. (That Patriots onesie is for you, Uncle Dave!)

img_1990

I’m back at WPXI which means I’m a working mom…and Dear Jesus in heaven…I have no free time!!

img_1903

I’m sure I’ll get better as the weeks go by and bring you some super stellar blog posts about our house and baby…that is my goal.

img_1987

But all I’ve got for you today is that I spend every waking second Monday through Friday either nursing Hank, cooing with him, changing him, getting him to my mom’s, working on news stories, pumping, eating and maybe fitting in a bathroom break!

img_1936

When I get home, I still can’t blog because I have to prep food, bottles, pumping stuff and clothes for the next day!

img_1923

Then I fall asleep at exactly 8:32 pm because I’m. So. Damn. Tired.

To all you working parents out there…kudos! And please tell me it gets easier! 🙂

Onward We Go!

After 12 awesome weeks with my sweet, sweet boy…Momma is heading back to work!

img_1883

I’m excited to go back…although I’m sure I will shed a few tears.

I do take great, GREAT comfort in the fact that Henry will be spending his days with my mom…his Nana.

Henry loves his Nana…he loves to coo and smile at her…and his favorite cousin Lily also loves him to bits. Hank, Lily and Nana will have more fun than I can even imagine!

I know I’m doing the right thing by going back to work.

img_1820

I want Henry to have a life filled with every opportunity possible, and Momma’s job is to finance those opportunities in addition to loving him to pieces!

img_1837

Daddy works very hard too…and we are so proud of the progress he’s making on the new house for the 3 of us!

Baby About Town!

Before Henry was born, Mark and I said we were going to try and live our lives as normally as possible and just bring Hank the Tank along for the ride!

image

Just look at him…doesn’t he look like he’s up for anything?!

Because God sent us such a good baby…we take Hank everywhere we go.

image

He goes to the job site to see Daddy and all the renovations he’s doing on the new house.

We took him to see our favorite bartender at Grapperia in Lawrenceville…and Hank just chilled with us for an hour as we had a drink.

image

Baby Henry also hit up Industry for a Sunday afternoon cocktail. (I know it seems like our lives revolve around drinking, but I promise they don’t!)

image

And even though Hank is always down for hitting up our neighborhood haunts, this is our absolutely favorite place…

image

Nothing is better than chillin’ in bed with our little guy!

Does Anybody Need A Tub?

For those of you following along (we love you!)…you are well aware that Mark and I tore down the entire front brick wall of our Victorian home.

While we were at it we thought…what the hell…let’s tear down the back too! 🙂

image

Tony G and his crew demoed this white structure which was a tiny kitchen on the very back end of the house.

image

The upper level of the brick addition on the home came down as well.

image

That’s where we had the bathtub sticking out for all to see! Does anybody need a tub?! 😉

image

The bricks that came down were used to rebuild the front brick wall…and the plan is to turn this portion into a second level outdoor patio with an outdoor fireplace.

You might think a newborn baby has slowed us down, but Mark and Hank are already designing the new outdoor patio and kitchen.

image

And all of you know that Mark’s eye for style is on point and the rough draft drawings of the patio and kitchen are FAB-U-LOUS.

Can’t wait to show you!

An ode to the stay at home mom!

Holy crap. OMG. You’re kidding me?!

That’s what I say when I meet Mommas who stay at home full time…most of them with more than one kid.

During my maternity leave, I’ve met so many moms who are raising their kids…without family nearby…many of whom suffered with postpartum depression…and they are STILL kicking it and rocking it and are just SO. DAMN. IMPRESSIVE.

After I tell them they’re amazing…I then say to them, “You are a warrior.”

I have been home with my sweet Henry for about 8 weeks.

image

It is awesome and it is really freaking HARD.

And here’s the thing…I have a REALLY GOOD baby. Hank has a chill disposition and loves noise, the car and people.

image

He took to breastfeeding right away and likes to sleep.

image

Thankfully, I didn’t have postpartum depression and I physically feel very good.

image

I also have my mom to help me. She lives 10 minutes away and considers herself a full time “grandnanny” for her grandchildren.

Technically, I have it made…and I love being a mom…but it’s exhausting and monotonous and utterly consuming.

Going back to my TV job is going to feel like EASY STREET, my friends.

image

I never would have had an appreciation for stay at home moms had I not had a child.

Let me tell you…the things they accomplish are the hardest things in life…like getting a crying baby to sleep, caring for a sick child and raising little people into fully functioning adults.

We should elect a stay at home mom to be the next President. That lady would get s&!$ done!!!

A Cover Preview!

We got our favorite West Elm catalog in the mail and I about FELL OVER!

image

“That’s our house!!” I screamed to Mark.

I mean…it’s what our house will eventually be!

You can’t tell from the outside right now, but this home we’re renovating is a beautiful Victorian that screams old school grandeur.

Mark and I have more of a modern, casual style.

So…as soon as I saw this catalogue picture…I knew instantly that’s how we’ll decorate the inside.

image

See the big windows and the crown molding? That’s exactly what we have.

We also have original wood floors and a large entryway.

image

I absolutely love how they combined the Victorian features with modern furniture and splashes of color!

Even though we are not even close to that yet…it’s nice to have a visual image to work toward and get excited for!

Right now, the only visuals we have are dirty construction sites…

image

And crumbling brick interiors!

image

Hopefully we’ll finish this passion project before Henry graduates college! 😉

The Fresh Prince of Lawrenceville!

First and foremost, it is WAY EASIER to renovate a house than get a newborn to sleep. Trust me.

home improvement ideas

Every night Mark and I try to rock Henry to sleep…as quickly and painlessly as possible.

image

A few nights ago, Mark was holding Hank and swinging him around and started to sing…

My husband apparently doesn’t know any lullabies and so he sang the theme song to the The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

HENRY LOVED IT!!

image

I chimed in about midway through and we sang that damn song over and over for 20 minutes.

Who would have thought the theme song to Will Smith’s old sitcom would soothe our baby?!?!

Hey…WHATEVER WORKS!!!
