Those last little (and annoying) things

Folks, we are nearing the end…SOUND the trumpets!!!

Let me clarify…we are almost finished with the upstairs. (We still have to do the entire downstairs, kitchen and backyard patio. I will be writing this blog for the next 50 years.)

I told you we painted that “Shark” color on our walls. We decided to paint the trim “Gypsum.”

Painting trim is still annoying, but it’s way LESS annoying than painting the walls and ceilings. While I worked on that, Mark put the door handles on the doors.

image

He also started putting our bathroom furniture and accessories together.

image

The sink fit perfectly until we tried to open the vanity drawer. We then realized we forgot to allow room for the door’s trim work, so the drawer would only open about an inch.

Frustrating…but not the worst thing. We moved the sink closer to the shower by an inch and viola…drawer opens just fine. The bathroom is really starting to come together.

I can’t believe it took us SIX MONTHS to renovate the upstairs. When we bought the house, we told all our friends it would only take THREE MONTHS to renovate the ENTIRE HOUSE.

We must have been certifiably insane.

Breaking news!!

We need to break into programming for this one…

image

Mark built a pocket door!!! It’s for our bathroom…since we don’t have a lot of space, we thought this would be a great option. He got a “pocket door kit” and framed in it.

image

Then we took an old door that was in the house and shaved down the sides so it would fit.

The bathroom is almost finished and so is the neighboring room that will hold laundry and storage!

Picture a stackable, front loading washer and dryer where yours truly is standing. I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, folks!! 🙂

Snap decisions

During the week, Mark and I are both SO BUSY and we kind of have opposite schedules…so we are like ships passing in the night.

image

Or in this case, we are a Honda and a Volvo passing on the road.

image

When you don’t have a lot of time, you make decisions quickly. Like in the picture above, we had 5 minutes to spare so Mark showed me a booklet of bathroom tiles on the hood of my car.

image

We discussed our options quickly, compared them to our model layout that Mark had drafted and made our decision in about 30 seconds.

See? All done. Okay, babe, I’ll see you when I see you!
