Moving In

It smells like a barn.

I am not a farmer, but you’d think I’m raising sheep if you came over.

Yep, we’ve got a “barn-like” quality to our living room.

We ordered a new wool shag rug for our front room because we decided to use the current rug in our dining room. (I say “room” but who are we kidding in a rowhouse…it’s our dining “space.”)

The rug has been all wrapped up and sitting in a West Elm warehouse for months. The customer service lady told me it just needs to air out.

I hope it airs out before next weekend because I’m having company over and I don’t want our guests to think I’m going to serve them hay.

We’re also working like mad men to get our dining room completed before next weekend!

Our 3 glass jar chandelier is coming together…can’t wait until it’s up and finished!

Just SIT DOWN!!!

Will you please take a seat?

image

No, no, no…try this one.

How about this one?

Guess what lovelies…we got the best seats in the house!

Woot woooo!!!

Allow me to introduce our new dining room chairs. We got four of them. They’re definitely modern…a steel frame with a dark wood seat.

image

We ordered them from wayfair.com. For us, that website had the coolest options with the most reasonable prices.

I think the chairs go perfectly with the dark steel table frame and concrete top.

We just ordered a chandelier – wait til you see it!

Eat on the concrete!

Breaking news…

Our dining room table has arrived!

photo 2 (3)

It’s a concrete top with a dark steel base. We went with the slightly smaller size, 60×36, to fit our space.

We can have 6 chairs…2 on each side and 1 on each end. But my dinner parties will have to stay at 6.

Unless you want to sit on the floor…I’ve got for pillows for that.

The concrete top is very industrial looking. It’s way different than the other tables we looked at and that’s why we like it.

The plan is to get softer looking chairs to complement the “harder” looking table. This is how the table was styled on the Crate and Barrel website.

This weekend, we’re going to put a sealant on the top so spills and stains aren’t absorbed by the concrete.
